Studying at The Care Academy at Wigan UTC is the perfect springboard to enter a health, caring, social work or community work- based profession. It’s a highly practical programme which involves a range of work-related projects and placements that will ensure you are well prepared to either get a job immediately or access a higher education course such as nursing, care, social work and associated professions. This pathway enables you to explore the principles of the health and social care sector from a scientific, sociological and psychological perspective.

You will participate in a range of enrichment activities that ensure your applications for jobs, apprenticeships and university places stands out from the competition, including sign language, first aid, Dementia awareness plus many more.
You will complete professional qualifications which will open up opportunities for work in health and social care when you are old enough. Many of our students will go on to work as health care assistants during their studies.
You will work directly with clinical educators from our university and hospital trust partners to build the practical skills, values and qualities you need for a successful future career.
