Destination success at Wigan UTC

Students have done incredibly well in their A-levels, NVQs, BTEC qualifications and EPQ projects this year.

There was a 100% pass rate in A-level Business, Maths and Chemistry, with 80% of students achieving grades A-C in Business. There was also a 100% pass rate in BTEC Sport & Exercise with 100% achieving D and D* grades. Furthermore, there was a 100 % pass rate in the Extended Diploma in Engineering with 42% of students achieving the highest grade of D*D*D* and 94% achieving at least one Distinction grade. As well as this 100% of students passed their EPQ.

Now that their time at Wigan UTC has come to an end, students will be going off to various destinations, including university and apprenticeships.

Jordan got D*DD in BTEC Level 3 Engineering and will be starting a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship degree with Balfour Beatty, a leading international infrastructure group  made up of engineers, builders, project and facilities manager, analysts, consultants and more.

Sophie achieved D*D*D in BTEC Level 3 Engineering, D*D in BTEC Level 3 Sport & Exercise Science and an NVQ in German She has secured an apprenticeship working towards a degree as an electrical engineer at Endress+Hauser Ltd, a sales, service and solutions centre.

Abigail got a B in A-Level Business Studies and D*D*D* in BTEC Level 3 Engineering. Following successful achievements at Wigan UTC Abigail looks forward to her future career on her Degree Apprenticeship with Wilmott Dixon who are experts in construction, residential development and property support services.

Ben achieved D*D*D* in BTEC Level 3 Engineering and has secured an apprenticeship working towards a degree with Jungheinrich AG based in Hamburg, Germany. It is one of the leading international companies in the material handling equipment, warehousing and material flow engineering sectors.

Alex got DDD in BTEC Level 3 Engineering and will be starting his studies at Liverpool John Moores University in September.
